Definite chilled rolls

The hardness allows deeper grooving. They are superior in biting performance and have enough strength and resistance against thermal shock in the rolling operation compared to chilled roll.

Definite Alloy chill Rolls are well matched for the finishing stand of rod & section mills, for continuous hot strip mills. Its features’ make excellent work rolls for two, three and four mills, turning out of high grade ferrous and non-ferrous sheet and strip or section.

Adamite Rolls

They contain Nickel, Chromium & Molybdenumin. They are known for their resistance, so they undergo a special high temperature heat treatment and are strolled than cast iron rolls. Their outer and inner hardness  are about the same. 

Application:

  • Pre-finishing
  • Polishing stands in structure mills
  • For Roughing Stands
  • Suitable for Medium and Heavy Sections

Indefinite Rolls

ICDP chilled rolls are manufactured by a combination of two techniques. They are cast high-nickel grain rolls with fine deposits of graphite on the surface.  Because of the presence of graphite, these rolls have a strong resistance to thermal shock. Indefinite chilled rolls produce excellent results in plate and section finishing.

S.g. Rolls Iron Pearlitic rolls are structurally characterized by Nodular Graphite as against flack graphite by nodularzing in the normal cast iron, Indefinite Chill type material, but with the Graphite in Nodular form instead of flake and having alloyed with higher percentage of Carbon along with Nickel & Molybdenum.

Process: Produced by adding a small portion of magnesium to melt as nickel magnesium or alternative alloys or pure magnesium. In these rolls, the free carbon takes shape of spheroid or nodules, thereby eliminating notch effect to flake graphite and improves upon mechanical properties of cast iron. These rolls are almost twice strong than that of chill rolls of same hardness, and have very good wear resistance for section rolling. 

Used for roughing, intermediate and furnishing stands of rail and structural mills as well as for wire and narrow strip mills.
